Old Donation School / Edward E. Brickell Academy for Advanced Academics and Arts proudly provides gifted and talented education for for selected Virginia Beach students in grades 2-8.

The former Old Donation Center and Kemps Landing Magnet schools were combined into a single consolidated 225,785 square foot facility to provide gifted and talented services for grades 2-8 as well as a Category II Emergency Shelter. The new school for Virginia Beach City Public Schools is a 1,375-student school which features a central core of common facilities and two academic wings: a three-story middle school wing and two-story elementary wing. The facility includes an auditorium, black-box theater, a mixed-use lecture hall, library, dance studios and rooms for music and visual arts. The building is sited on the former Old Donation Center site which was demolished summer 2014 in order to begin construction. Old Donation Center and Kemps Landing Magnet School temporarily moved into the former Princess Anne Middle School, where they stayed for 2 1/2 years until construction of their new building was complete in April 2017. Construction documents for this new facility were entirely produced using Revit® Building Information Management (BIM) software. Targeted for LEED Silver certification. Budget was $63,615,000.
