Retail and mixed-use projects are abundant in our communities due to the VAST POSSIBILITIES they present – a VARIETY of building types and uses within one complex, often within one single structure.

Just as the mixing of uses attracts a variety of clients and customers; it also yields the use of different structural systems and code requirements. Researching these requirements and incorporating them into one set of Construction Documents presents the types of challenges that inspire our PASSION for the profession. The award-winning Riverwalk Landing project in Yorktown presented the challenge of creating the appearance of a historic development using current building materials and up-to-date code requirements. Don’t be fooled by the size of the Checkered Flag Smart Car Dealership - while the facility is small in size, like the cars Smart produces, the project requirements were unique and very demanding. As with all projects highlighted within this retail/mixed-use market sector, this project earned a design award from HRACRE.
