The new school for Virginia Beach City Public Schools is a 1,375-student school that features a central core of common facilities and two academic wings: a three-story middle school wing and a two-story elementary wing. The facility includes an auditorium, black-box theater, a mixed-use lecture hall, library, dance studios, and rooms for music and visual arts. The building is sited on the former Old Donation Center site which was demolished summer of 2014 in order to begin construction. Old Donation Center and Kemps Landing Magnet School temporarily moved into the former Princess Anne Middle School, where they stayed for 2 1/2 years until the construction of their new building was complete in April 2017. Construction documents for this new facility were entirely produced using Revit® Building Information Management (BIM) software. Targeted for LEED Silver certification. Budget was $63,615,000.
